Flirting with Europe

For five months, i was at the European Commission, along with 500 fellow stagiaires.
I left Brussels at the end of July and since then, i am in Avignon (southern France).
I cannot say that this traineeship was a waste of time. Though my job in DG ADMIN (Human Resources) was not that exciting, I and 7 fellow stagaires got involved in a very interesting project: a theatre play dealing with the "stage".
We wrote the 30 pages script in 3 months before beginning rehearsing. It was a tough challenge since most of us never experienced anything like this before. Luckily we got a subtantial grant allowing us to play in a regular theatre with a technical crew.
The story was quite simple and supposed to be a comedy... It was composed by five main characters (shy, ambitious, dater, looser, arrogant) and four supporting characters: the secretary, the chairwoman, the speaker, the head of unit and the recruiter.

We performed three times before a total audience of around 320 people...
It was a wonderful experience and i'd like to thank all those who worked hard on the play:
Estelle Gallot as Timma
Lina Banyte as Barbora
Alice Clerc as Aphrodita
Jean-Marie Rogue as Viktor
Stephan Nielsen as the head of unit, speaker and off scree voice
Myriam Delomez as the secretary and the chairwoman
Irena Veiveryte as the recruiter
Other thanks go to Piotr Rozalski, Daniela Raychinova, Eleri Lynn and Marie Ledru.
All these people were all commited to the success of the play and very kind. For sure my best memories come from this project rather than from drafting documents in my anonymous Commission's office.
